Thanks, elf – glad you like the blog. I’ve been rather caught up in defeating real-life dragons recently, working on a project that has a remarkable resemblance to getting a guild through hard modes (oh, and doing that in-game too). However, things are settling down and there’s hope of getting back here more regularly in the future. I miss having time for this.

Great article.
The point about ‘I speculated that perhaps the voice warning was phrased as an imperative: “Run out”’ makes me wonder if DBM should in fact use instructions rather than spell descriptions.

And this ‘One particular hazard to watch out for here, in your raiding: Leaders who have been at Stage 4 for some time are frequently very poor (Stage 1!)’ is so true, another good point.

Should clean the article a bit. Moving from bold text section to the next its hard to find your person changes.

Keep it first or second person throughout the article and it will flow much better.

Thanks for the indepth analysis! You are correct – my caller was calling “Melee out!” when he saw the Shock Blast happen.

The downside is that while my caller is very responsible and helpful in general, he also has that Stage 4->1 problem you mention – when I asked him to call it out, he implied that the fellow who needed it called it was an idiot. Whereas from my position as healer, I understand completely not seeing things like this – I’m watching health bars, and he’s probably watching his energy bar!
